I heard recently that the imagineering that came up with the phrase "If we can dream it, we can do it" as heard in "Horizon" has just been put in charge of Epcot. Hopefully he can help put more love into Epcot as it really deserve it.Nic Kramernoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-874762899625889815.post-23779907597715324062014-06-20T19:01:55.724-04:002014-06-20T19:01:55.724-04:00Thanks for the kind words. I can't say I experienced all of these attractions in person when they were opened, and a few of these are based off many different online videos that people have taken during their visits when these great rides were still operational. I still think the park has such a big history and really wanted to do a video on the past of the Epcot park, so I did a lot of research to write this.

I can't say I personally spent a lot of time in The Land area back in my earlier visits, so that one completley slipped my mind. I'll see if I can find anything on that section and possibly add it to the list. If I do a continuation of this series, I will be sure to add your comment.

Thanks!

Mitchell Steinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01520589634123833812noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-874762899625889815.post-78920415475011239912014-06-20T15:23:26.734-04:002014-06-20T15:23:26.734-04:00I first visited Epcot in 1992, my first visit to W...I first visited Epcot in 1992, my first visit to WDW. I remember Communicore East and West, the original Journey Into Imagination, and other attractions for which you wax nostalgic. Me, too.

One thing you didn't list was The Land, which turned out to be one of my favorite parts. I arrived early in the day, and had breakfast in the revolving restaurant...yes, they actually served breakfast in those pre-medieval days at Disney, and I had Mickey Mouse pancakes while watching the boat ride go by below me. I was so intrigued by what I was seeing that I had to take the ride next, so right after I finished breakfast I went down to the ride. It was October, and by no means was it deserted, but the lines were very navigable and wait times were reasonable. I loved the boat ride, and then I signed up for the guided tour of the greenhouses. Also that morning I watched the Kitchen Kabaret (not nearly as bad a show as people have described--I actually thought it was cute and funny). There was also a film, very positive, about man's relationship to the earth and ecological measures that were being taken to preserve natural resources. By the time I had finished seeing everything that I wanted to see in The Land, it was already one o'clock PM. Needless to say, I thoroughly loved Epcot in those days, and I have a special soft spot for The Land.

When I went back in 2005, the restaurant no longer served breakfast. I am guessing they never will again, which is a real shame, because it started my day off on a very high note.

Thanks for sharing about these great attractions, and I hope you also have fond memories of The Land.

scarecrow33https://www.blogger.com/profile/10552306802823617940noreply@blogger.com
