Mitchell Stein- 112 years
ago today, a brilliant filmmaker, inventor and futurist was born. His name was
Walt Disney.
Since that
day, Walt has moved on to start his own company, The Walt Disney Studios,
created dozens of iconic characters and opened a theme park based on his
properties.
We’ve come a
long way since Walter Elias Disney was born 112 years ago, but his spirit still
lives on in the continuous work of the Walt Disney Company. Films like Frozen and Saving Mr. Banks carries his legacy and shines a light even brighter
on the Disney Company.
From Mickey
to Muppets and to Marvel and Lucasfilm (etc.) Disney has played a big part in many of our
lives. How can we possibly imagine a world without Disney? Walt changed the
face of animation and filmmaking and created great new techniques and concepts
way ahead of it’s time.
For me
personally, Disney has meant a lot. From the films which I owned on VHS, to
Walt Disney World and beyond, Disney has played a major role in my life
personally.
I grew up
watching, and re-watching, (and re-watching) many Disney films including The Lion King, Aladdin, Pocahontas, Toy Story,
Buzz Lightyear of Star Command, and The
Tigger Movie.
The fandom might have really started for me a few years ago
when we were travelling to Disney a lot, and as I got more involved in the
Disney/Muppet fan world, and it brought me to co-run this incredible new blog
celebrating all things Disney, and that’s what we continue to do.
I guess that’s
what Disney adds to my life every day, and will probably continue in the
future. Happy Birthday Walt!
Celebrate Walt's Legacy by seeing Saving Mr.Banks which hits select theaters December 13th and nationwide December 20th! Review will be posted shortly.
